developers needed

GIMP is an open source project, which means it is developed in the public and anyone can contribute. If you think you can contribute to GIMP go to developer.gimp.org

selecting source with target’s shape for copying

If you need to copy a portion of the image to another portion in such a way that the selection shape matches the target, you can draw the selection on the target first, and then move only the selection (not the content) upon the source are using the move tool in "move selection" mode.

color selection threshold

When using the Fuzzy Select Tool or Select by Colour Tool, click and hold on the image while dragging up or down to adjust the threshold visually.

correcting perspective

Photographing a sheet of paper (poster,photograph, etc.), usually doesn't align the sheet with the photo. To correct this, you can use the "Perspective" tool in corrective mode. Just drag the 4 handles of the perspective tool to the 4 corners of the sheet.

transparent png image size

When exporting images with transparency as png, all the image data, including pixels with alpha 0 are stored, contributing to file size. Making them all the same color first in the RGB layer can reduce file size.
