This is a tip-of-the-day ‘brainstorm’, where anybody can contribute a tip-of-the-day to be included in GIMP. It is moderated by the GIMP UI redesign team, consisting of professional interaction and usability specialists. We do not post tips here ourselves, we ‘listen’ and collect to what you send us.
To keep things easygoing + fun around here, there are some rules:
Keep it clear and snappy. You can check out some tips-of-the-day in GIMP or on this blog, to get a feel for their general form.
Your tip-of-the-day should be written in English. It does not need to be brilliant English, but it needs to be understandable.
About 240 characters is a nice length for a tip-of-the-day. A length of 480 characters is a monster tip, it better be worth it or we will ask you to edit it down a bit.
Send your tip to us, put the word ‘GIMP tip’ in the title of your email (to avoid spam, emails without ‘GIMP tip’ in the title will not be opened).
We will not publish your name or email address by default. If you want to be identified with your tip, write “signed [your name/email]” in your email to us.
Do not write in your tips about other people, other people’s tips, or why GIMP sucks, because…
…polemic kills brainstorming, hence there are not going to be discussions or comments in this blog. If you want to vent, use the usual channels. If you have got a better tip-of-the-day, simply send it to us.
If you want to respond to a tip-of-the-day, by all means, take the tip, modify it to your own liking and send it back to the brainstorm. Be careful to attribute the contributor(s) who worked before on that tip, ‘the GIMP UI brainstorm’ being the default for all those who contributed anonymously. Creative dialogue: it is allowed and encouraged by the CC licence on this blog.
We are pretty liberal Europeans, but anything obnoxious will ensure that your tip does not get published here. We will not modify your tip in any way, so either it is fit to be blogged or it will be discarded.
Our team will label your contribution and for truly cool individual contributions we write a few words of appreciation.
Your tips-of-the-day have to be compatible with the license of this blog. Be careful not to put copyrighted material in them. Speaking of…
